Quilting Night

Some friends and I got together last night for our monthly quilting/crafting night. It was so much fun! There was so much wonderful creating going on and lots of great conversation! I hosted it once again thinking it might be the last time I get to host it in this house. We had such fun!

I worked on some new quilting squares based on this quilt I saw a while back and this recent tutorial from one of my favorite quilting blogs. I am excited to see this one come together. It is so easy, it's pitiful!

Then I finished up my mini quilt top. I love how it turned out!

Nothing Sweeter

Than hearing your three year old say the Act of Contrition all by himself at bedtime. We have been saying it so Jacob can memorize it for his Sacraments this year. In the mean time, as with many things, Nicole and Andrew have picked it up. What a beautiful blessing.

O my God, I am heartily sorry
for having offended You, and I
detest all my sins, because of your
just punishment; but most of all
because they offend You, my God,
Who are all good and deserving
of all my love.
I firmly resolve, with the help
of your grace, to sin no more, and
to avoid the near occasion of sin.
Amen.

Quilting Madness

It is madness. It has to be. I have no less than 7 quilts in different stages of completion on my work table. That's what's actually ON my work table. There are many more that are in drawers, etc. waiting to be started! I think I could probably not buy fabric for several years and not run out of things to do - but who would want to do that?

I recently posted below about a little mini quilt I was beginning. I have loved these wonderful little mini quilt patterns for several years, but have never bought one. I saw them again when I was at a shop in Lewisville over our evacuation. I decided to try and make my own. I had bought the reproduction fabrics below and designed a little quilt while I was an evacuee. Last night, I finished making all my little squares. This is how it will look - only smaller once I sew them all together (minus a 1/2 inch on each square). I love it!

Here's a photo so you can see the fabrics up close.

Then I began something else last night. I am so enamored by this paintbox quilt at a wonderful quilter's blog. I knew I wanted one! Then the other day when she offered a tutorial, I just about jumped for joy! I don't have the Kona cottons she has, but I decided it would be perfect for the Ava Rose fabrics I bought online. Another quilter was making her version so I thought it would surely work. The following two squares are my first ones. They are lovely and they were so easy and fun to make!

Well, I hope I have infected you all. It is a love!

Wonderful Quilting Link

I think I will be spending a lot of time here. What a lot of wonderful things for me to explore.

I already have a subscription to Better Homes & Gardens magazine and I buy the BHG American Patchwork and Quilting often enough that I finally figure I ought to "save" us the money and just order a subscription. The nice thing about the quilting magazines is that there are so many wonderful patterns and projects inside to keep me busy for a long time. And I love their stuff! Always so colorful and fun!

This morning I did a little cutting for a sweet little mini doll quilt I want to make. I bought some circa 1930s vintage fat quarters at a shop while we evacuated and I am excited to put them together.
