6 years of age and older

That is the age requirement for a child to sleep on the top bunk of a set of bunk beds.

I now know why.

It is not a safety issue.

It is a matter youthfulness and flexibility. Six year olds are excellent climbers. Six year olds are very capable of making their own beds. They have to be. No one else is physically able to climb to the top and make the bed. Take it from me. I know.

Hey-
I was on an extended blogging break, and missed the news of your newest addition. So, congrats on your little baby boy! We found out our #4 is a boy as well, so we will be with you on the one girl, three boy thing. I'll have to take notes on how your little girl handles life with three brothers! :) What joy!!

My six year old is dying for a bunk bed, but she's the oldest, and I worry about the younger ones getting stuck up there...I don't want to have to be the one getting them down...lol.
